Traffic Signal Cable Description
Traffic signal cables are typically multi-core cables, with solid or stranded bare copper conductors, insulated with polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, and with a PVC sheath for durability and environmental resistance. These cables can be unarmored or armored (with steel wire armor) for direct burial and protection from damage.
BS 6346 is the British standard for traffic signal cables and AS/NZS 5000.1 is the Australian/New Zealand standard for traffic signal cables. Both cables are of large core configuration, BS6346 cables have a Class 1 solid copper conductor, while AS/NZS 5000.1 traffic cables have a Class 2 stranded copper core.
