Standard and Enhanced Fire Cable Description

Standard and Enhanced Fire Cable is made of soft-skinned low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) thermoplastic compound for use in fire alarm, emergency lighting, and fire safety systems.

Standard Fire Cable is tested to BS EN 50200 for a minimum of 30 minutes (PH 30) for fire alarm circuits and 60 minutes (PH 60) for emergency lighting circuits. In addition, it is tested to Annex E (exposing the cable to a water spray) for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Enhanced Fire Cable must be tested to BS EN 50200 (PH 120) for fire alarm circuits and emergency lighting circuits for 120 minutes. It is tested to BS 8434-2 with the addition of a water spray test for a minimum of 120 minutes.

Enhanced Fire Cable offers longer survival times than standard fire cables. This is critical in some large buildings without sprinkler systems, where circuits need to run for extended periods of time to aid evacuation.
