Profibus Cable Description
Profibus cables feature a dual-core design (red and green) with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low-smoke halogen-free (LSZH), or low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant non-corrosive (LSZH-FRNC) outer sheath. They also feature double shielding (aluminum foil and braided layers) for effective protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI). They provide excellent power delivery performance for distributed peripheral (DP) and process automation (PA) applications.
There are two types of Profibus cables, primarily distinguished by their application areas. Profibus DP is considered the standard protocol, designed for time-critical communication between process automation systems and distributed peripherals, and is widely used in field communication within plant processes and cellular networks.
Profibus PA, on the other hand, is a subset of this standard, designed specifically for connecting control systems to field instruments in process automation applications. It uses segmented couplers to achieve transparent communication between general automation networks and process automation networks.
