SSE Cable

SSE cables are medium voltage power cables approved by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) for connection to the UK National Grid and for use in its electricity distribution network.

SSE Cable Description

SSE cables are typically 11kV or 33kV. 11kV cables are available in single-core or three-core configurations, while 33kV cables are single-core. All three cable types utilize aluminum conductors, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, and a medium-density polyethylene (MPE) jacket, providing a robust, abrasion-resistant, and tear-resistant barrier for cable duct installations.
